World Porridge Day

 


Porridge is a common breakfast staple made by cooking ground, crushed or powdered cereals, grains or starchy plants.  It is fiber rich, consisting of complex carbohydrates, packed full of zinc, iron, vitamins B and E. It can lower blood pressure, control blood glucose levels, and lower LDL cholesterol levels as well as a multitude of other health benefits. It is the poor man’s diet that is full of riches.

Fact: Porridge is the traditional national dish of Scotland, but the Russians stood at number one for producing 6000 metric tonnes of porridge.
